Health Care Fraud Investigations Pulling In $8 For Every Dollar Spent: "WASHINGTON -- The government says it recovered almost $8 for each dollar it spent investigating health care fraud over the past three years, including a record $4.2 billion last year.

The $7.90 average return on investment is the highest in the 16-year history of the Health Care Fraud and Abuse Program. Since 1997, the program – a joint effort of the departments of Justice and Health and Human Services – has returned more than $23 billion to the Medicare trust funds."

Federal Health Care Fraud Probes Brought in Record $4.2B Last Year - California Healthline: "The federal government recouped a record $4.2 billion through health care fraud investigations in 2012, according to a report released Monday by the Department of Justice and HHS, The Hill's "Healthwatch" reports (Baker, "Healthwatch," The Hill, 2/11).

The recovered funds came from the more than 1,100 criminal health care fraud investigations and 900 civil investigations launched in 2012. More than 800 individuals were convicted of fraud-related crimes in the criminal cases.

Overall, the Health Care Fraud and Abuse Program has recovered more than $23 billion in Medicare funds since it was created in 1997 (AP/Modern Healthcare, 2/11). Recent efforts have increased the amount of fraudulent payments the federal government has recaptured. "

Saudi Press Agency says prince Sattam, half-brother of king Abdullah dies | Fox News: "RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA –  The official Saudi Press Agency says that Prince Sattam bin Abdel Aziz, King Abdullah's half brother, has died at the age of 72.

The agency quoted a royal court statement as saying Prince Sattam, governor of the capital Riyadh, will be buried Wednesday.

The statement did not mention the cause of death. The Saudi ruling family rarely gives details on the medical status of top figures, even when they are hospitalized."
